Most recent show I finished is The Untamed or 陈情令. I came in as a fan of the animated web series and was unaware of its source material being BL. I was certainly surprised with some of the interactions, mostly in a "that makes so much sense in hindsight" type of way compared to the web series I was more familiar with. The actors for the two leads Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji were perfectly cast - they give off the exact aura I got from their animated counterparts but there's a deeper complexity to their characters internally and I feel the contrasts and ways they play off each other is even better here. The story is solid and provides some thought-provoking questions as well as interesting ways to help answer them.

My main issues are the underwhelming/convenient ways every conflict is resolved and how everyone stands around giving expositions instead of stuff actually happening. Also the way powers/fights are depicted doesn't illustrate in any way differences in power between characters. Everyone seems equally weak, especially the Yiling Patriarch, whereas in the anime this isn't a problem. I would also have liked a better focus on the supernatural aspects. The ending kinda blows but it's a good show overall.

Currently watching When We Were Young. It's a nice drama so far that's comforting to watch.
